To further improve the lives of those in need in Uganda, African Volunteer Aid are proud to announce an innovative and transformative education programme that will help people of Uganda to find their passion and purpose through mentoring.

For many in Uganda, their motto is ‘life is hard’.

We want to turn this mindset on its head, and have people believing that ‘this is just my all-time low’ or ‘I will thrive!’

The African Volunteer Aid mentoring program is a comprehensive and a holistic program for people who are life coaches and mentors and would like to take their practice to the next level, develop extra skills, learn more strategies and gain wisdom to become a highly respected and successful professional coach.

If you are in the profession already or if you have just completed your training, you already have a strong desire to make a difference in the life of others, willingness to commit, and courage to go deep into yourself and practice all the things you will preach once you become a busy and successful coach. We will provide a platform for you to improve yourself and create lasting change in others.

Why Join The African Volunteer Aid Mentorship Program?

By joining the African Volunteer Aid mentoring programme, not only will you enhance your own skills as a coach or mentor by learning how to communicate with a variety of people from different backgrounds, you will also be part of a ripple effect of change across Uganda, and build an impressive resume for future mentoring opportunities.

Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity. Yet one in three young people will grow up without this critical asset, and the statistics are even worse for young people in Uganda.

Our bigger picture is that described by Marianne Williamson in her book ‘Return to Love’ and famously quoted by Nelson Mandela at his inauguration.

We strongly believe that each person is ‘born to shine’ and that life circumstances and lack of skills and opportunities often prevent that from happening, to the detriment of all.

Benefits Of The African Volunteer Aid Mentoring Programme

After extensive research and by working with volunteers, we developed this program out of a passion to share the concept of “helping others to help themselves” with educators and social entrepreneurs in Uganda and around the world.

Our mentoring programme provides a holistic approach to youth – girls and boys; women; community groups; persons with disabilities and people living with HIV/AIDS to enable them to become the best at whatever they choose to do and remain competitive and relevant in an ever changing market. We equip people with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to achieve their potential.

The overall program tackles issues such as:
• career development
• building confidence
• realistic self-assessment
• aspects of being a woman
• identifying priorities
• assertiveness skills
• setting practical yet stretching goals
• improving your health
• stress management
• presenting a positive image
• improved communication skills
• building better relationships
• building networks
