Community enterprise is playing a big part in Eliminating extreme poverty In the communities we are working in. Not only is it just about assisting communities with humanitarian aid in the form of a new water station, a renovated school or assistance in hospitals, we have now started looking at Ways the community can utilise their skills and their assets to help themselves fight poverty. It is clear that certain underlying causes of poverty are too complex to enable community let inventions alone. Rural communities Deep in the village in some parts of east Africa lack the knowledge and skill set required to look at the bigger picture of the personal situation dealing with property. Community enterprise gives people the chance to understand they can often address and solve their own issues once given this knowledge and skillset. Reducing the vulnerability of families dealing with extreme poverty.
Our community enterprise program looks at the skill sets Our mentees already possess and coaches and in utilising and leveraging this skill set. For example, we are able to assist families who have knowledge and skills working with poultry, teaching them ways they can leverage this skill set into making money.
If we can successfully assist a family Working with poultry to increase the numbers of chicken from turning three chickens into 90 we have assisted them with a small business they can manage themselves. Helping them financially to progress and look after themselves without the need of foreign financial aid.
